Our industrial EV charging systems that have been powering Seattle-Tacoma International Airport's (Sea-Tac) electric ground service equipment are not only improving air quality, but they are also helping to save millions for airlines. The following article published in IHS Airport 360 details how the airport's investment in our system helps to improve the bottom line.

LOS ANGELES, at Electric Vehicle Symposium 26, May 7, 2012 -- AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV) today announced the Port of Seattle has awarded the company a contract valued up to $8.8 million through 2014 to supply its PosiCharge™ electric Ground Support Equipment (eGSE) fast charge systems to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Call it a green conspiracy. In 2004, Southwest Airlines approached the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority with a proposition: The airline would replace its gasoline- and diesel powered ground service fleet with electric models if the airport would install the necessary recharging equipment.
Both parties would benefit with the resulting cut in emissions—a mandate that is being gradually implemented by the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Southwest Airlines would cut its daily per-vehicle fueling costs by nearly 85 to 90 percent. And Burbank Airport would provide its tenants with recharging capability, enabling them to more readily move to electric vehicles. The airport and airline agreed, and after a careful evaluation of available suppliers, they selected AeroVironment, Inc. to install 42 of its PosiCharge™ fast charge systems at the airport’s 14 gates.
CHICAGO (February 13, 2001) American Airlines has advanced its commitment to electrifying its ground support equipment (GSE) fleet with the recent installation of the first four of 10 AeroVironment PosiCharge MVS multi-vehicle fast charging systems at Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport. When all 10 MVS chargers are in place, American will be able to fast charge more than 100 GSE vehicles, making this the largest fast charging installation in the world.
"This is a milestone for the PosiCharge product line," said Larry Hayashigawa, PosiCharge product manager. "We have tested and demonstrated our dedicated and multi-vehicle fast chargers around the nation, but this commitment from American proves that the product is 'crossing the chasm' from the early adopters to real-world users." AeroVironment, Inc., maker of the PosiCharge family of fast charging equipment, introduced the MVS to the marketplace in Booth 2857 at ProMat 2001, February 12-15, in Chicago's McCormick Place, Hall C.
